Flocked Artificial Christmas Trees – Bring The Beauty Of Outside Indoors
Christmas is just around the corner. We’re seeing signs of the holiday season in the stores and magazines already. Of course, one of the center pieces of Christmas decorating involves choosing the perfect tree, real or artificial, regular green or flocked Christmas tree, and making it as beautiful as one’s imagination allows.
Aisles are being filled with ornaments and garland, but what about the tree itself? What can be done to make it an ideal canvas for all those gorgeous decorations?
Today there are many choices, not just between real and artificial, but also between variety of tree chosen and purchasing it already flocked, or flocking it at home. Christmas trees that are flocked with fake snow help to bring the beauty of outside right into your living room.
Flocking a tree simply refers to the process of adding artificial snow, which is actually cellulose (a tree product) to all of the tree or to just the branches. The process can be done to both real and artificial trees. Back in the 40’s and 50’s customers began bringing home their ornaments, some artificial snow and glue, and creating their own flocking. A bit of glue on the ornament, a dusting of artificial snow on the glue, and the effect was beautiful.
It didn’t take long to realize the process could be transferred to garlands, wreaths, mantles, even the tree itself. Christmas trees that are flocked stir the imagination like a whisper of winter in the country and magic in the air.
It is possible to buy a real tree that has been flocked at the nursery, although this is not as popular in all areas of the country. The nursery uses a mixture of cellulose, water, spray adhesive, and fire retardant to apply the artificial snow through a spray applicator. They can do the entire tree or just branches, according to customer preference.
If flocked artificial Christmas trees are preferred, the same process and flame retardants are used to cover parts or all of the trees. Additionally, artificial trees can be purchased pre-lit, a lovely, economical, and time-saving feature. Of course, these beautiful trees can be purchased online today in a variety of sizes and shapes.
Flocked artificial Christmas trees offer years of consistent beauty and tradition. They capture the imagination of the observers and bring an almost ethereal presence into the room. Whether you choose to visit a nursery for a pre-flocked real tree, or you choose to flock it yourself with a kit at home, or you decide to purchase an artificial one either online or at a store, you will enjoy decorating it and sharing it with all those near and dear to you during the holiday season.
